Pedestrian Bicycle Bridge Over Mission Creek

  It has been brought to the Pearl Chase Society:s attention that the temporary pedestrian bicycle bridge over Mission Creek between the Lighthouse Building on Cabrillo Boulevard and the ocean was voted by the City Council to be made permanent. This utilitarian prefabricated bridge was plunked down across Mission Creek to provide pedestrian and bicycle transit while the new Cabrillo Boulevard bridge was under construction. Honoring Kellam de Forest

On Saturday, November 12, more than 60 people came out to Arnoldi’s to celebrate our longtime supporter, board member, and friend Kellam de Forest as he marked his 90th birthday. The event was also a fundraiser to help support an exhibition at the Smithsonian, which features Kellam’s father and famed landscape architect Lockwood de Forest. “I want to thank all those who attended the birthday party in my honor at Arnoldi’s for their good wishes and support. Pieces of the Past: Fountain Conservation

By  Rochelle Rose as Published on Edhat.com Thanks to generous and thoughtful donations by the Pearl Chase Society and the Museum League, the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum’s Courtyard Fountain was conserved to its original glory! Conservator-in-Residence Amy Green supervised the restoration project over a period of two weeks in July as visitors and staff viewed the progress. The Museum’s project entailed conserving Iznik tiles made in Turkey during the mid-16th century. Pearl Chase Society Elects New Board Officers

The Pearl Chase Society, formed in the 1990s to preserve its namesake’s vision for historic Santa Barbara, recently elected new Board members and officers. Elected president was Steve Dowty, principal architect with KBZ Architects, Inc., where he has received local and statewide awards for architectural design. Steve was a member of the Hope Ranch Homeowners Association Board of Architectural Review for over ten years and will be leading the Society’s effort in support of the Franceschi House.
